My 100th Article here at JU
Well, this is my 100th post here at JU. So, I've stolen an idea that I've seen on other blogs here and elsewhere (most recently CS-Guy's blog). Here are 100 things about me. Enjoy.
1. I am a Staff Sergeant in the US Army.
2. I am married.
3. I have 1.75 dogs (go read my “I have a 3-legged dog” post).
4. I teach Korean at DLI.
5. I am a 3/3/2 in Korean.
6. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, but I went to high school in Clearwater, Florida.
7. I live in Seaside, California right now.
8. I am left-handed, but as a child I learned to throw with my right hand.
9. I am also left-eye dominant and left ear dominant, but I kick with my right foot.
10. I am terrible at keeping in touch with people. I never call, rarely visit, and seldom email. I do however answer comments on my blog. I get points for those.
11. I’ve been in the Army for 12 years.
12. Of those 12 years, I’ve only been stationed CONUS for the first and last year. Everything else was overseas.
13. I am a ‘dog’ person.
14. I collect coffee mugs. I have never let having many mugs get in my way of buying another.
15. Don’t feed chip tequila. That is an order.
16. I love the 80’s.
17. I have seen true beauty.
18. I’m the glue.
19. My current desk at work is my ninth since coming to this school. I will be moving to a new one soon.
20. I just cleaned up dog poo.
21. One of my favorite movie lines is, “It’s a hell of a thing to kill a man. You take away everything he’s got and everything he’s ever going to have.”
22. I have two herniated disks in my lower back. This makes activities as simple as putting on my socks difficult sometimes.
23. I have one younger brother and one younger sister.
24. Right now, there is no money in my wallet. This is normal. If I had money in my wallet, I’d be planning how to spend it right now. This is why I don’t normally carry money.
25. I miss the Marathon candy bar.
26. I have a fascination about the Korean War. Specifically, I want to learn more about the Korean historical viewpoint of the war.
27. My dream job would be to be a Major League Baseball umpire.
28. I have a calendar full of pictures of Maltese puppies on my office wall.
29. My most recent time for two miles was 21:30. Now many of you may be thinking, that’s not very fast. I got that time walking, not running.
30. I scored a 76 on my most recent Army Physical Fitness Test. Normally this would be an incredibly low score and mean that I failed, but due to a back injury I sustained during training a few years back, I don’t have to do the sit-ups and I do an alternate aerobic event (the 2.5 mile walk – no score, just a pass/fail). My most recent 2.5-mile time was 26:40. The only event I do for a score is the push-ups.
31. I have passed and lapped runners during the pt test while I was doing the walk.
32. I’m an Army of ONE (or so they tell me).
33. I am a non-smoker. I really hate smoking. My wife smokes. Causes problems sometimes.
34. If I ever had to pick a new Army MOS, I’d like to be a reenlistment NCO.
35. I like to laugh. I like it better if I can make others laugh.
36. No, I didn’t call you.
37. I really am not a big fan of the NHL or NBA. But I will play fantasy sports in both.
38. My back hurts.
39. I hate waiting in lines. I’d rather go someplace extremely early or plan to go later in the day just so I don’t have to deal with a line.
40. I drink a lot of coffee.
41. Adding milk and sugar means it’s not coffee anymore.
42. I don’t think that NASCAR, synchronized swimming, poker, or gymnastics are sports. They are competitions and the participants can be great athletes, but they are not sports.
43. I don’t like to do dishes. Go figure.
44. I am a TED.
45. My favorite singer is Sting. I am also a fan of Concrete Blonde.
46. I like a lot of pop music from Korea or K-Pop.
47. I think my best feature is my eyes.
48. I like John Madden on MNF
49. I took part in the 134-mile Oahu Perimeter Relay in 2000 (I ran over 17 miles spread over six legs).
50. I have already probably had my ‘fair share’ of alcohol. I think I am probably dipping into someone else’s share now.
51. My drink of choice right now is Johnny Walker Black on the rocks.
52. I use a lot of old, out-dated slang. Like – “Right on!” or “Have good mosh-pitting!”
53. If I could go back and change one thing, I would never have given up running after high school.
54. I have been in one major traffic accident (not my fault).
55. I once scraped one Army truck up against another Army truck (completely my fault).
56. My three favorite daily comic strips are Get Fuzzy, Dilbert, and Calvin and Hobbes (still in the top three even though it’s no longer new). I get all three via email every day.
57. My most recent answer from my Magic 8-ball was -- ‘It is certain’.
58. I like video games.

60. I have been reading comic books, on and off, my entire life. I have always been a fan of Superman.
61. Superman – the Movie is my favorite comic related movie, but Spider-man 2 kicked serious ass, and is a close second.
62. I won two medals (one silver, one bronze) at the 2000 Worldwide Language Olympics.
63. I love living in Korea.
64. I am proud of the work I did while on funeral detail, but I hope I don’t have to attend another for a very long time.
65. I don’t know if alien life has ever visited Earth, but I do think it’s arrogant to believe that we are all alone in the universe.

67. Sometimes, I get a little too troll happy on JU.
68. I have had a date with two different women on the same day.
69. I have been caught having a date with two different women on the same day. While it sounds like a sitcom plot (and it is funny today), I was not laughing at the time.
70. I love baseball – Go Indians!
71. In Korea, I would get up at 0100 on Monday mornings in order to watch football games.

73. I had breakfast with that same friend the next morning. No hard feelings.
74. I like Salvador Dali’s artwork.
75. I wish I had super-powers. First choice would be some kind of mind reading/communication/control type powers along the lines of a Professor X/Martian Manhunter type character.
76. If I had these powers, I’d use them more often for good than evil. Most often I’d ‘suggest’ that idiot drivers pull over and report their inability to drive/traffic violations to the first police officer they saw. And I promise that I wouldn’t wear spandex for a costume.
77. I am a clock-watcher.
78. Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Wendy’s, McDonalds, and Burger King – That’s the order I like them, but not the order I usually eat them.
79. My screensaver at work is a scrolling marquee that says, “The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds; the pessimist fears that this is true.” That quote is attributed to James Branch Cabell.
80. In high school, I was a good distance runner. My best times came in the last track meet of my senior year. I ran a 4:57 mile and about an hour later, I ran 10:50 for the 2-mile.
81. I like poker, but I rarely play.
82. I have a small pillow in my office that says, “My goal in life… is to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.” That is one of my goals in life.
83. I can’t stand the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don’t know why. This mystifies many of my friends.
84. One of my favorite books of all time is Robert Heinlein’s Starship Troopers (the book, not the movie)
85. One of my favorite movies of all time is Aliens.

99. My favorite TV show -- CSI
100. I like the free ice cream.
Extra bonus -
101. This is actually my 101st post even though my profile shows it as my 100th. I once deleted an article I posted. It was a test to see if the blogstreet thing would work. It didn’t. At the time I thought is was because I wasn’t smart enough to make it work. So, I deleted it so as to not look stupid. Later, when others tried the blogstreet thing, I did it again and let it stand. It still doesn’t work and I no longer care.
