If it's wrong, I've probably said it...
Two posts in one day, something is wrong with me

Something I've meant to post for a while but again, I'm lazy. HAHA! A long while back I wrote about Online Friend and Alumni Finder Services.

Well, the result of that was I went home last year in hopes of making a 20 year reunion for people I went to grade school with. I went to a private school and most of the students attended all eight years together. We were a small class and close friends for all that time and still have some ties between us. Well, I screwed up my flight reservations and went a week late. HAHA! I'm an idiot. But I did get to meet some friends and spend some time catching up.

I got to see pictures from the reunion and got to hear about how everyone was doing. I don't remember if one friend had attended or not but there was an update that she had formed a band in California and had a CD out. I wrote the web site down and then proceeded to lose the paper it was on for a while. I found it again a while back and checked out the website.

The name of the band is Devil Doll. Like I said, I did check it out. I bought the CD off of iTunes and have enjoyed listening to it. Information from the site describes the band as - "Devil Doll is a Los Angeles based band led by the Devil Doll herself, Colleen Duffy. The music is a mixture of 40's style jazz, rockabilly, latin and punk." It's a very unique blend of music and the vocals by my friend, Colleen, are great. Her voice stretches to fit the different styles of music they play and can be at times throaty, silky, breathy, smoky, and deep. She really does sound great, I think. If you go to iTunes, you can hear 30 second clips of all the songs to get an idea of what I'm trying to describe and I recommend that you do check it out.

While checking out the website, I saw that there was also a myspace site linked, so I checked that out as well. I checked that out as well and we've since traded emails through myspace. Yes, I do have a myspace account, but it's fairly underwhelming in content and I'm using it to find and keep in touch with some friends - myspace.com/chiprj, if you'd like to look.

So, to just repeat what I said a year and a half ago, I like the idea of online alumni and friend finder services. They've worked well for me to contact people I've lost contact with. But I'm still not a paying member to any of them. Nor am I any better at staying in touch once I reestablish contact with anyone. HAHA!

Oh, and check out Devil Doll. It is good stuff.
