And that's just like being an Average Joe
Last night I got a call from a good friend of mine (he has commented before under the name Regular Guy). Regular Guy and I worked together in Hawaii. We got to talking and catching up and we hit the topic of how he got this nick.
You see Regular Guy had an old car in Hawaii. I don't remember what it was, but it was one of the old steel boats the US automobile giants put out in the 70's. It had, as my high school driver's ed teacher told us, 'Six feet of steel in front your, six feet of steel behind you.' It was a monster. What made this car truly special was that it had a sticker in the rear window. At first glance, it looked just like a 'Ranger Tab' An arc of black with a gold border and gold letters. But instead of Ranger, it said Regular Guy. We even called the car the 'Regular Guy Mobile'. It was awesome!
The sticker always drew comments. Whether they be good natured jokes or threats of bodily harm. You see, we worked in an infantry division and there were plenty of Rangers running around. In fact, there were a number of Rangers in our military intelligence battalion. And Rangers don't like people having fun at their expense (more on that in a later post). Regular Guy regularly received 'single finger salutes' from infantry soldiers from all over the division. I got to borrow the Regular Guy Mobile for a short while and I got a couple, myself! It only made me laugh more.
Well, the Regular Guy Mobile is gone now. And so is the sticker. But I found a website where the creator of the Regular Guy stickers sells them, along with other Regular Guy stuff. You can find it here Link. Check it out, if for no other reason than to check out the design. These days, he has even more stuff than just the stickers. He has coffee mugs, frisbees, shirts, and hats, too.
I just bought a couple stickers and a coffee mug. I can't wait for them to get here!
