I may have been young, but I was not a kid!
I brought home a bunch of the pictures I keep in my office and scanned them in. I figured I'd share some of my favorite Hooah! pics. So, over the next week or so, I'll post them (along with more poems from my younger days).
The story on this one. This picture is from Dec 93. I just turned 23 and this was after a graduation ceremony. The man in the center was the Commandant of DLI back then. A realy scary guy. He was a tabbed out Special Forces Colonel and did his best to greet all service members with a menacing growl and a 'I'll rip you guts out with my bare hands and eat 'em before you die' scowl at every oppurtunity. No joke, this guy gave a speech to our school shortly after he took command that started with, "Look to your left and your right. Most of those people won't be here on graduation day because THEY WILL FAIL!"
On graduation day, all the guys in the picture got awards. As you can see, they all got neat certificates, but I got a paper weight and pen, courtesy of the Pacific Grove Kiwanis Club. The award I got was usually given to a Russian Basic Course graduate, but none of the Russian grads met the minimums to qualify for the award, so they looked at the grads of other languages. So, thanks to all the Russian students that sucked that year! NYAH!
So, here it is -
