If it's wrong, I've probably said it...
Now we're running with scissors

So, over the weekend I convinced my wife that we needed to get a wireless router and card for our computers. We picked up the goods on Sunday and I got everything installed that evening. I have the main computer hooked directly into the router and the laptop now has a wireless card. Everything is running well. I may have to reposition the router a little because the laptop is having a small signal problem if we take it into the bedroom. It still gets a decent signal, just not 100%.

It's nice because now we don't have to compete for the net. Right now is the first time we've been on the first time since we got everyting set up. She's sitting just 10 feet away and as a joke, I IM'd her and asked her what she was wearing. That may never get old...

I think it is hilarious to IM my wife when I we are both at home. The little messages on yahoo IM are great. I never get tired of them.

Cool that you were able to get the home network set up.

That sounds awesome, chip. Adrian told me if I'm good I can get a laptop when comes home . . . and if we do what you guys did, I can sit on my ass and watch TV and be on the internet at the same time. It's been my lifelong dream . . . I get teary eyed just thinking about it!

Did she think it was funny?

I have a hard wired network set up here, my wife and I IM all the time. This way we can talk behind the kid's back and he don't know what we are laughing about.

And all she had on was her wireless router!

I just hope you didn't download the latest verion of Ay I aM Spyware though.

Good for you chip. My husband and I have our two computers connected through a router. We each have a desk facing away from each other because we love to play Quake head-to-head. (that was the original reason he purchased me my own computer.) We have broadband, so our both being on the internet at the same time has never been a problem.

Have fun!

Hell, that's exactly what I'm doing now....chilling on my chair, feet propped up on the ottoman, watching "XXX" on cable as I write this on my laptop, while the wife is in the bedroom editing the kids' pic on Photoshop while listening to her 80's music streaming in Winamp.

Ahh, life is good........

Oh, and for this:

I may have to reposition the router a little because the laptop is having a small signal problem if we take it into the bedroom. It still gets a decent signal, just not 100%.

One way to solve this is to look into changing your antennas. The bigger they are, the bigger the signal boost. Check the manufacturer's site about upgrade components.

That sounds harder than what I did.

That's one of the cool options!

Did she think it was funny?

She was in the middle of something, so she messaged back "Don't bother me" and completely ignored my laughing... I'll have to try again...

And all she had on was her wireless router!

How cool would that be!

Now you can spend even more time RPGing!

HAHA! Well, until the free beta ends...

just hope you didn't download the latest verion of Ay I aM Spyware though

Actually, we use MSN messenger.

We each have a desk facing away from each other because we love to play Quake head-to-head. (that was the original reason he purchased me my own computer.)

She's really wanted to learn some of the games I play, so this may become an option for us, too!

That sounds like the life!

Thanks! I'll check into that!

My hubby and I are on wireless together. It is almost always great, except when I am blogging and he starts reading aloud some news story that he just found. Sometimes I am happy to stop and listen and sometimes I want to say...(Very gently and lovingly)...Later, dear!

that's neat . . . I did the same thing about a year ago. However, my wife doesn't understand the technology. All she cares is that she's happy to get on her AOL and I can still do what I want on my laptop (I don't run AOL).
COngrats and happy internetting (if that's a word

HAHA! I think that we will be the same way. Messaging her will never get old for me.

However, my wife doesn't understand the technology. All she cares is that she's happy to get on her AOL and I can still do what I want on my laptop (I don't run AOL).

My wife is happy that she can get on the computer anytime and do what she wants, too, and not have to compete with me for time.

Thanks! And if it's not a word by now, it will be soon, I'm sure!

A bad signal at this time usually ends up on the sofa!
