Especially on a run...

For PT today, we went running along the bike/jog path towards Lover's Point Park. Today is the start of the half day schedule at work, so we decided to take it easy for PT and didn't go all the way to the park. Instead we did a 20 minute out, 20 minute back run. This time, though, our PT leader made a point of running from the first person back to the last person and checking to make sure they did the entire 20 minutes out part. We have some serious slackers. Honestly, at the start of the run, I wanted to slack off a little this morning, but once I got warmed up, I just wanted to run. It feels so good to run and I've built my endurance back up, so my back doesn't bother me and I can go faster than a slow jog when I get going.

What does this have to do with coffee?

Well, at about the 15 minute mark, I had made it to the aquarium along Cannery Row. Somebody down there opens early and sells coffee. This morning, I passed a guy that was drinking from a styrofoam cup that was steaming with coffee. And I could smell that beautiful bean juice. Not only could I smell it, it seemed as if my entire being reached out to it. Honesly, if I'd had a couple bucks on me, I'd have asked the guy where he got it and bought some. I'd have drunk it while I ran. That's how bad I wanted the coffee right then. I spent the remainder of the run out thinking that I'd get another chance to smell that cup of coffee when I turned around and ran back. And, I did. It smelled awesome.

My next thought was that the faster I ran back, the sooner I could get home and make my own coffee. And that was a really great thought, because some of our friends in Hawaii just sent us a Christmas package LOADED with Kona Coffee. I can't believe how much I took for granted being able to buy the little white bags of Kona Coffee in the commissary whenever I wanted. Cheap. I've only found the brand one place here and they charge almost twice as much as it cost in Hawaii. And I'm talking about the brand that just contains 10% Kona coffee. Not the 100% stuff.

I've written before that I'm not a fan of adding anything to coffee once it's brewed, but I do like some of the flavored roasts. Especially some of the ones you can get in Hawaii. The blend today? Chocolate Macadamia Nut. Brings back some great memories from Hawaii.

Where I work only 2 of us drink coffee but, If we don't brew a pot in the when we get there a couple of the non coffee drinkers will get upset because they love the smell as much as we do.....

I found some supposed Jamaican Blue Mtn, that has no info on if it is a blend or what, but it sure goes down good.

Just for fun, can I be the weirdo in the bunch?

Very little makes me more nauseous than the smell of coffee in the morning. Don't know what it is, but it just makes me sick. Okay, I am done.

Ahhh, Kona coffee. We had that on our honeymoon. Good stuff. I want to know what the 90% is that's not Kona coffee, though. On Kauai, we went to a coffee plantation and brought back a bag of it. I preferred to to the Kona, though it's now gone. And alas, we're back to buying the fair trade coffee now, which is okay but not quite the same.

I read this as I made my latte this, er, afternoon. Made it taste even better.
