If it's wrong, I've probably said it...
Do you recognize the reference?

I went by the little base snack bar this morning. I had a craving for an icy cold soft drink, so I broke my usual coffee habit and headed down. I decided to pick up a bagel and ate it at one of the tables, while I enjoyed my drink (with ice). Just before I was done, a man came in with a similar idea (I guess) and tried to get an icy cold soft drink for himself. Well, he started loudly complaining about the fact there was no ice. Very loudly.

"There's no ice! Why isn't there any ice! I want ice!"

I looked over at the commotion (while raising my ice filled cup to my mouth) just as the lady behind the counter came out to check the machine. She told the guy that she had filled it a little while earlier, and so it would take a little patience for the machine to dispense the ice. She held the little push thing in for a few seconds (5-6 maybe) and ice started coming out. Just like when I filled my cup.

What made this all the more funny to me, though, was that the way the guy was yelling and just the way he looked, I saw him looking just like the guy that inspired the title I gave this post.

First commenter that gets the obscure reference and comments with it gets.... well, nothing really, other than the knowledge that their obscure knowledge of comics (there's a hint) is equal to, or greater than, mine.

No clue! No prize. Get busy and post a quiz about something that is familiar to me.

Gangrene Ice is a superhero, isn't he? What do I win?
on Jan 28, 2005
Hmm some movie had ice as a carrier for nanomachines to destroy the intelligence dept, by delivering ice to them.

Am I close enough?

Nope. The ice is actually my addition/change. The "No gangrene" part is the reference.

I'm shocked. Dismayed...

So, you know the answer? I fear I may be kicking myself when this is all said and done...

The only comic books I've ever read are Calvin y Hobbes, and I'm not thinking of a connection there. Sometimes I feel like I've missed out....

OK. Going to let you all off the hook here. It was a lame reference and an obscure one. The line came partially from Frank Miller's Batman: Year One. There was a hostage situation and (then) Lt. Jim Gordon went unarmed into the building to try and save the hostages by facing the man. The man was obviously crazed and kept saying things like - "No lunch! No gangrene lunch!" Like I said, obscure reference, but there you have it.
