If it's wrong, I've probably said it...
Happy Birthday Army!

My wife and I are going to the Army Birthday Ball tonight. It's a little early, but the Army is is old and just like a person, it doesn't really want to celebrate on a weekday. It'd rather do it's partying on the weekend! This will be my first ball after nearly 13 years of service. Never had the desire to go before, really. In fact, I'm only going out of some minimal peer pressure. HAHA! But I am a lifer, so I guess I should start doing this sort of thing more often.

I am looking forward to going, though. My wife and I have very rarely had the oppurtunity to truly "dress up" (I'll still be in uniform, but it will be my "Dress A's") and go out. She's looking forward to it, too. She went out and got a new dress, shoes, bag, and jewelry. I can't wait to see her.

So, Happy Birthday, Army!

I've been to a few military balls, dinings in, etc. It's fun to dress up in all the fruit salad, and like you said, my wife has enjoyed them too for the dressing up part. Next time I go to one, I'll be able to wear my CAV stetson and spurs. What fun.

Now that's Huah! I think the CAV extras are really nice and it's cool that they are earned. A lot of tradition there.
