If it's wrong, I've probably said it...
Take me out to the ball park

In an email before I left for Cleveland, I had mentioned to one of my friends (Shelley) there that since I had missed the reunion and I would have time on my hands, I'd like to go see an Indians game with my mom. I checked the schedule and saw that they would be in town for the weekend to take on the Reds in the last interleague series of the season. It was being billed as the Battle for Ohio. I decided that Sunday would be a good day to catch a game. In a return email, my friend told me that my other friend (Joe) might be able to help me out with tickets.

Well, Joe really came through for me. He got me field level seats for free! They were down the first base line, just a little beyond first base. The seats were in the last row, which couldn't really be called a row, really. They were actually up behind the last row behind a metal bar. Instead of a row of seats, there were just five seats in a group of two and a group of three. We sat up over the rows in front of us, so even if the fans stood, we could see over their heads. Also, the metal railing in front of us had nice cup holders mounted. The restrooms and concessions stands were right behind us. There was even a little yellow line on the ground behind us that kept (for the most part) other fans from trying to stand right up behind us.

The game was a good one. The Indians had the lead for a good bit of the game, but the Reds tied it up late. In the bottom of the eighth, Victor Martinez pinch hit for Josh Bard and drove in the go ahead run. The Indians brought Bob WIckman in and he closed the game out in the top of the ninth. It was a lot of fun.

I'd like to say thanks again to Joe for the tickets. They were great seats and my mom and I both really enjoyed the game.

Chip, I'm glad you and your mom had a good time at the game. It was great to see you again after sooo many years gone by. Hopefully we can both keep in better touch with each other from here on out. I'm enjoying the blog and will continue to check it out whenever I can.
Good luck with your new students and I'll chat with you soon.... Joe.
