If it's wrong, I've probably said it...

So, the holiday season is gearing up. Earlier and earlier, it seems, every year. And this year, it looks as if eBay has decided to really jump on the bandwagon.

I've been a member of eBay for years now. I haven't bought and sold an overwhelming amount of stuff in that time. My feedback score is only in the 90's (100% positive) and my total number of transactions is below 150. But, I have found a lot of stuff there to buy and I've cleaned out a lot of the back room closet and made some money off of the stuff I've found there.

Well, my last transactions on eBay were over 2 months ago and I've barely logged in since then. Once in a while, I'll log in and price check things that I'd like to get, but my watchlist has been empty longer than my selling list. I haven't won and item, let alone placed a bid since spring.

This year eBay has started a very aggressive campaign to get people to buy and sell this season. I've gotten email from them almost every day. Free insertion fees or adding features for free to your sell pages that normally cost money. And just yesterday, I got a catalogue in the real mail. Addressed to me, not resident. Full of all the neat items that everyone wants this year and instead of prices, they tell you exactly which categories to search in to find that item. Very nice marketing, I think.

Almost makes me think that they miss me, but then I remember that they are probably sending the same thing to every member...

awwww......that's sweet. You should remember to send them a christmas card this year..........and bill them for the shipping and handling of course.

Perhaps they could bid for the card instead?

You know, I haven't received jack from them, and my latest auctions were a few months ago. Perhaps it is that my account is "recently" active, and I do log in occasionally to search (in vain) for "good deals" on dead games...

That sounds like a plan...

That sounds like a nice addition to the plan...

Hmmm... that's odd. I'd figure they would be sending this stuff out to everyone. Maybe it does have something to do with logging in. I logged in this morning for the first time in months. Prior to that, if I went to ebay and searched, I'd do it anonymously. I figured if I found something I wanted, I'd log in then.

Well, I will very likely use eBay again to buy and/or sell something in the future. But, I'm not going to marry eBay! No matter how special I am!

Does your wife know how ebay feels about you?

She is NOT a fan of ebay!

!! No wonder, with ebay propositioning you like it is . . . moving in on your wife's territory . . . trying to draw you in to its dirty web of sales and feedback . . .

I know, right! She'll be like, "what's this on the bank statement?" And I'll be like, "Why you up in my business?" And she'll be like, "It's my business if you're spending money!" And then I'm like, "whatever! Whatever! I do what I want! I do what I want!" And then she's like, "You stay away from ebay!" And I'm all like, "But, the bargains are so great!" And she's like, "Too bad!" And I'm like, "crap"

It took me a while to type it. I was laughing too hard while I wrote it. Sometimes, I really amuse myself.

You amuse myself, too . . . sometimes when I say "" I mean, "gee, that was funny," but sometimes . . . like just then . . . when I say "" I mean freaking ""

The Cartman thing really gets me . . . Adrian says that to me all the time and it completely cracks me up . . . plus I could picture your wife telling you what's up . . .

I love that line! We used to say it at work a lot in Korea.

plus I could picture your wife telling you what's up . . .

We have a lot of conversations that end that way. I occasionally get crap sometimes from people that hear isolated things about me and my wife and how they think based on one small thing, I MUST be whipped. Well, I won't completely deny that I may be whipped. But, I tell those people that they must not know the love of a good woman, because if they did, they wouldn't consider it being whipped. They'd just understand.
