Yesterday, we spent our second day in LA by going to the Dodgers game. We got up early and had a nice breakfast, courtesy of Staybridge Suites. Don't know if it was special for Sunday morning, or if the usual breaksfast selection is always as great, but they had a great spread. I took a tray of food back up to our room and my wife got to have breakfast in bed. We got ready to go slowly and hung around the room enjoying the free high speed internet access (I can't get anything faster t...
I miss being able to run. I was on the Track and the Cross Country teams in high school. I wasn't great, but I was good. During my senior year, I ran 17:24 on a 3-mile course during the cross country season. At my last track meet before I graduated I ran the mile in 4:57 and an hour later I ran the 2-mile in 10:52. Neither time qualified me to move on to the regional track meet, but they were my personal bests. I was a pace runner. I never sped up or slowed down greatly during a race...
I just saw over on Yahoo Sports that the Giants ink SS Vizquel to three-year pact . If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that I love baseball and I'm a big fan of Omar Vizquel. He's spent 11 years playing for the Cleveland Indians. Again, if you've been reading for a while, you know I'm originally from Cleveland and the Tribe is my favorite team. I was very sad to see that the Indians didn't pick up his option and they allowed him to file for free agency. I am glad that ...
Should Randy Moss' streak really count? It seems to me that the only reason he suited up today was to get on the field and get the start to count. The announcers made a big deal out of this being his 109th game, but really, did he do anything? He lined up for the first offensive play to get credit and there is an incomplete pass in the second quarter credited as being thrown in his direction. But, really, does it count? I mean there's a difference between getting in the game and being sh...
So, I got to go to my third baseball game of the season yesterday. The Cleveland Indians made their only appearance in Oakland this year and we caught the rubber match of the weekend series. I was really excited about the game. It's been about 2 1/2 years since I got to see the Tribe play and that was the first time in over 15 years before that. Our seats were on the field level, about 18 rows up behind first base and the visiting dugout. I originally thought about trying to get ther...
I love baseball! Especially getting to see a game in person. Tomorrow I'll be going up to Oakland with my wife and we'll be seeing the Indians play the A's. Being a Cleveland boy, I've been waiting all season for this game. This is the first trip they've made out this way all season. The Indians have been electric all season long and have performed a lot better than most people thought they would. Jake Westbrook will be pitching against Barry Zito, so it should be a good pitching battle...
In an email before I left for Cleveland, I had mentioned to one of my friends (Shelley) there that since I had missed the reunion and I would have time on my hands, I'd like to go see an Indians game with my mom. I checked the schedule and saw that they would be in town for the weekend to take on the Reds in the last interleague series of the season. It was being billed as the Battle for Ohio. I decided that Sunday would be a good day to catch a game. In a return email, my friend told me ...
I enjoyed the game. I thought both sides played fairly well and don't think it was nearly as one-sided in favor of the Patriots that many people predicted. Going into the game, I was torn with feelings of apathy. While I naturally root against any dynasty-type teams and have no love for the Boston area, really, I also couldn't care less about the Eagles. While it's difficult to argue with the stats of 30/51 for 350+ yards, I just got the feeling that Donavan McNabb was off his game ye...
